The Girl in the Treehouse

A Memoir

In this whimsical, poetic and gripping autobiographical account, Jennifer Asbenson describes her abusive, dysfunctional and chaotic upbringing, her abduction and escape from a serial killer, her years in and out of mental hospitals, her decision to heal herself, and ultimately, her path to wholeness.

Several years after surviving an attack by a Chicago serial killer, Jennifer Asbenson decided to write a book about her harrowing experience. After writing The Girl in the Treehouse: A Memoir (Wesley Charles Publishing), Asbenson transformed her life and became a mental health awareness advocate as well as an advocate for missing children, searching for them across America with her intrepid dog Wesley.

Jennifer’s story is told in the premiere episode of A&E’s I Survived a Serial Killer, debuting Wednesday, August 18.
